Four undergrads, namely (in alphabetical order) Abhigyan Das, Gaurav Damani (from Department of Information Technology Jadavpur University), Rahul Kumar and Raunak Sharma (from Department of Computer Science, Heritage Institute of Technology), under the team name FireSat, took part in Nasa Space Apps Challange where they a build a fire-monitoring and crowd sourcing app that will allow local fire managers to respond to wild fires.

Taking help of Machine Learning an IOT based solutions, unusal changes in temperature of any area can be monitored and reported to the nearby fire station.
The app, called FireFix developed is very user-friendly and easy to operate, along with the website to make the work for the fire stations easier.
The geolocation of the concerned area is first located using Google Maps.
Then the differences in temperature of that location is measured using meteomatics API, to confirm the fire.
The fire department is then alerted automatically with the location of the fire provided, along with pictures which can be uploaded on the app.The trucks are navigated using Google Maps.
Meanwhile the app also searches for nearby locations suitable for human body through a satellite imaging API for safe evacuation and navigation of the concerned victims. Water bodies are also located using Satellite Imaging.
The possible dry regions upto which the fire can spread is also tracked and alerted.
Kudos to the team for bringing forth such an excellent solution to a very pressing problem of efficient fire management systems, especially in regions of wild fires.
